Default [Petition] Get rid of the auto rotating camera

Rant
Well I am just sick of the camera rotating itself, it is extremely annoying at times, there is a reason why I want to pan the camera to that specify angle, why screw it up for me?

The camera is very likely to auto rotate itself into another point of view when my character is on bridges, or near edges.

Please fix this?

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Or am I alone?

End Rant

Suggestion - Proposed Idea
- Give us the option of turning off the auto-rotating camera (by Pkest, Terra Xin, bilateralrope)
- Put it as a checkbox in the F11 Options (by Ventius Hozza)

yes, their should be a way to turn if off.. maybe there is though, but i don't think i have ever seen such an option. At least for pve, not like pvp observer mode, i know it has one.

Un-Signed, just another whining thread

With all the whining Anet just will turn a deaf ear and or be selective hearing when it comes down to all whining. They have better things to do then rework everything because of all the dam whining goes on, on the forums. Remember it's just a game and there is no need for everyone to get all worked up over every little thing.

Well what if it would effect gvg? Then it seems to get a megaphone :P Still not everything is a whine.

The camera rotating is the only way to stop bots from being able to do everything.

@viper008
Your flamebait was uncalled for. Not every suggestion is "whining" and a minor suggestion that could easily improve the gameplay is in no way considered whining either.

@shardfenix
if you obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about, please refrain posting comments based upon nonsense. Bots are seldomly based upon Pixel Detection. Those are usually the Pawn Bots used in the great game of E-Bay Chess. True bots don't even require you to run GuildWars. They log in independently and control everything through direct control of memory.
A rotating camera doesn't even slightly irritate those.

@Topic
There basically is NO reason to not sign this. So basically, signed. Having to downright fight the camera sometimes is annoying as hell. It works out okay sometimes but limits your point of view often enough. And to make things worse, it seems to be totally random at times, bumping up to impossible heights, then going down into the ground, glitching into walls (well partly, so all you see is the wall and nothing else) or mindless spinning and rotating.

The only time the auto rotating camera annoys me is when the placement of enemies on the server doesn't match the placement on the client and frankly then the camera spinning around is usually the first thing letting me know that's happening. I'd rather they fix the client/server sync as standing there unable to even attack the closest enemy is sort of sad.

Still it should probably be an option rather than a fixed thing so...

Put it as a check-box in the F11 options.

And if it did, they would usually be supplied with a hack to the GW client to disable the rotating camera.

I absolutely hate wanding monsters on a bridge and the camera keeps aligning itself to my target. Death and ressing isn't as terrible as some say though, but I don't need the rotation.

If you give the option to have it turned off, it would be a very good idea

Where did you got that bot control thing? I assume bots read network traffic to define what is on the screen rather than pixel detection because pixel detection with current knowledge is unrealiable and heavy process.

Personally I like the auto-cameras aim for the most part. So I can't sign this idea, but I will support the option of turning it off.

The auto camera doesnt work all the time... so in the "on" position, they should fix its auto-ness. I'd also like to be able to turn the auto-rotate off.

However, I think the biggest problem with the camera is how it handles terrain. It sucks when you want to look up and the camera gets stuck on the ground, its also pretty bad when you're backing up against the wall and the camera doesnt handle it very well. Indoor areas will always be a problem until they fix that aspect of the camera.

I use my mouse to control my camera. It is however, annoying when you res and the camera points the wrong way. And this is a really, really small thing. More options are always good.

Thank you all for the feedback, much appreciated.

Based on the feedback I received, I have kinda "civilized" the post a bit.

Please review the "idea" that was not present before and comment, support, object necessary.

Discuss.
